Student Property Needed
Landlords are being invited to sign up to a student accommodation scheme being run by the University of Leicester Students' Union.
The union manages several student properties on behalf of landlords through its accommodation office.
The union needs more furnished properties located within walking distance of the university or close to bus routes and shopping.
Properties that are part of the scheme are advertised on the internet, in the student newspaper and on notice boards around the Students' Union building.
It is a condition that the flats and homes meet all statutory safety requirements.
Laura Egan, Welfare and International Officer of the University of Leicester Students' Union said the scheme had proved popular with students.
She said: "Students do not have to bother about corresponding with estate agents. All tenancy agreements are between the students and the accommodation office."
Most landlords have found the service very convenient, as the Students' Union collects rent and carries out inspections on the properties.
