We Love the Union Shop!
Assorted products. Great prices. Convenient location. These are the distinct features of the University of Leicester Students’ Union Shop.
Established in 1958, the shop has over the past years, responded to changing customers’ needs.

In order to satisfy the needs of the diverse university community, management of the shop recently introduced shelves for bread, cakes and Oriental products.
“It is fantastic,” says student Tom. “The bread sold here are cheaper than what I get in other supermarkets. It’s a great saving for students.”
A loaf of bread (Hovis or Kingsmill) costs 99p. With £1.50, students can get two loaves of bread. They can also get muffins, crumpets, pancakes, teacakes and currant buns for only 89p each.
Twenty year-old Rachael Smith says, “I dash into the shop to get my regular hand cream and talcum powder.”
The Union shop sells branded toiletries such as Imperial Leather, Johnsons, and Impulse for only £1 each.
The shop’s new layout and convenient location - in the ground floor of the Percy Gee building – makes it easily accessible to both staff and students of the university.

The University of Leicester Students’ Union is an ethical organisation. The shop therefore sells fair-trade products – coffee, sugar, flapjacks, tea and chocolate. There are also a range of healthier products – raisins, peanuts, apricots and rice crackers.
The Chinese shelf in the shop ensures that customers get the best noodle, spicy pickle, sauce, seasoning, coconut milk, seaweed and jelly fish.

The Union shop also sells subsidised newspapers, magazines, milks, yoghurts, sandwiches, snacks, drinks, stationery, greeting cards, souvenirs, gifts, medicines, toiletries, clothing and stamps.
